The Chief Engineer & Second Engineer Oral Exam Guide – Book 2 continues the series with further senior-level questions, including more advanced engineering, electrical, fuel and lubricating oil, dry dock, survey, legislation, enclosed space, propulsion and Chief Engineer management topics. It has been written to complement Book 1, not repeat it.

The EOOW book remains highly relevant even when preparing for senior tickets, because examiners can still ask basic engineering questions at Second Engineer and Chief Engineer level. You are expected to know the fundamentals as well as the management-level answers. Book 1 and Book 2 then take that knowledge further and help you prepare for the deeper, more practical discussion-style questions that come up in senior orals.
